 HERE WE ARE!

Pietro PIChierri

Pietro obtained his BSc and MSc degrees at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo (Italy), and obtained a PhD in Molecular Cell Biology working on the role of Fanconi anemia proteins in genome integrity with Dr. Filippo Rosselli at the CNRS/Gustave Roussy Cancer Institute in Villejuif (France). At the end of 2004, Pietro come back to Italy as senior research fellow at the Italian National Institute of Health in Rome (Italy), where he started an independent research group in 2006.

Annapaola Franchitto

Annapaola obtained her BSc and MSc degrees at the University of Tuscia Viterbo (Italy), and a PhD in Molecular Cell Biology at the CNRS/IGR in Villejuif, (France), where she focused on studying the role of DNA helicases in genome stability. In 2008, she established her independent research group at the Italian National Institute of Health in Rome (Italy).

Maurizio semproni

Maurizio is our senior research assistant. Coming from a very different field, Maurizio joined the "dark-side of the force" five years ago. He is involved in most of the projects of the group. Expert in microbiology, master of cloning and catcher of GST-fusion proteins.

eva malacaria

Eva obtained her BSc and MSc in Cell Biology at the Sapienza University of Rome. She obtained a PhD in Human Biology working on DNA endonucleases, and has been recipient of a FIRC fellowship for her postdoc. Now Eva is a junior scientist, and enjoys with experiments aiming to define how the function of RAD52 at fork is regulated. It is difficult to spot Eva in one place as more often, like The Flash, she runs from the bench to the culture room and to the microscopy room.

pasquale valenzisi

Pasquale obtained his BSc and MSc at the University of Rome Sapienza, and achieved a PhD degree in Human Biology and Medical Genetics in 2023 working on G4/R-loop-associated genomic instability. Now he is a junior postdoc studying  the relevance of these non-B-DNA structures in chemosensitivity of HR-defective cancers and the roles of WRNIP1-RAD51 interaction in the maintainment of genome integrity.

Floriana CAPPIELLO

carolina figlioli

Carolina obtained her MSc in Pharmaceutical chemistry and technology at the University of Rome Sapienza working on tumour response to drugs using organoids, and joined our group in 2022 for the PhD, enrolling into the PhD school of Biology and Molecular Medicine. She is working on the MUS81 endonuclease and, more specifically, she is trying to understand how deregulated function of MUS81 in S-phase correlates with chemosensitivity and chemoresistance of cancer cells.

Giorgia marozzi

Giorgia joined the lab for her MSc thesis in 2022. She worked on how RAD52 overexpression affect replication fork processing under replication perturbation. Giorgia obtained her MSc degree in October 2023. Giorgia is now a freshly-appointed PhD fellow in the lab, enrolled into the PhD school of Biology and Molecular Medicine. During her PhD Giorgia will further characterize this mechanism and help unveling more misteries of the RAD52 life and, of course, she will become famous.

Flavia di feo

Flavia joined the lab for her MSc thesis in 2022. Flavia obtained her MSc degree at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" in October 2023. Flavia now is a PhD fellow in the lab, belonging to the PhD school of Biology and Molecular Medicine. She will continue to work on the functional relevance of the WRN-RPA interaction and how this can be regulated. Flavia, will aim to further characterize this mechanism, and also identify other critical regulators of this pathway.

BENEDETTA PERDICHIZZI

Benedetta joined the lab in late 2022 as a Master degree student for her MSc thesis preparation. Benedetta recently obtained her MSc in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the Sapienza University of Rome, and she entered into a pre-doc fellowship while preparing the examination for being enrolled into the PhD program in Human Biology and Medical Genetics. Benedetta, for the most Benny, works on the functional characterization of a novel interaction of WRN with...who knows?

DANIELA LUCARIELLO

Daniela got a Master degree in Biological Science from the University of Naples “Federico II” in 2023, working on polystyrene microplastics effects on zebrafish embryological development. She joined the group in June 2024 as a pre-doc fellowsh. In November 2024 she joined the PhD program in Human Biology and Medical Genetics at the Sapienza University of Rome. Daniela will work on cancer-related mutations of RAD52 and will investigate how replisome is re-shaped dynamically in response to the activation of alternative mechanisms of replication fork restart.

Giulia stampatori

Elena roscioli

...

Rosa PARRILLO

Rosa joined the group late 2023 as a Master degree student from the Sapienza University of Rome. She will carry out an MSc thesis working on how WRNIP1 participates to resolution of replication-transcription conflicts.

NICOLA lomurno

Nicola is a Master degree student from the Sapienza University of Rome and joined the group in february 2024. He will carry out an MSc thesis working on WRNIP1 overexpression and dysfunction to help understanding correlation with the response to replication stress and chemosensitivity in cancer cells.
